The Palette To Keep Forever

A limited edition Mac palette. Every beauty lovers dream.

I was lucky enough to have the Mac Keepsakes palette given to me as one of my Christmas presents and I was so grateful. After using it for about a month now I thought it was the right time to do a review.

First off, the packaging. Wow, wow, wow. If this isn’t beautiful then I don’t know what is. Glitter, beads and a statement queens head in the centre. The glitter catches the light and sparkles like the brightest disco ball (I’ve seen many disco balls at parties when I was younger!). It may just be me, but the glittery top seems to have small purple and blue tones running through it to create a midnight sky-like effect. I love how the queen’s head in the centre is slightly raised compared to the rest of the packaging as this creates a statement throughout the whole thing, as well as the beads on the outer edge giving an extra dimension.

Now onto the actual palette. 8 eye shadows which certainly live up to the expectations of the packaging. I have the ‘beige eyes’ palette but you can also get a ‘smoky eyes’ and a ‘plum eyes’ to create lots of different looks. All 8 shades are highly pigmented and they are all very long lasting - even without a primer. They range from a very light colour which actually matches my skin tone to a much darker brown shade which has some black tones running through it. The palette also has a balance between matte and shimmery shades as it includes 4 of each which is great if you want a look that can go from day to night. It also comes with a double ended applicator brush which I haven’t tried yet as I prefer to use my own eye shadow brushes but if you were looking for a palette with an applicator then this ticks all the boxes.

The only slight downfall about this palette that I find is that the shades don’t have names. Now this will seem ridiculous to some people but personally I like to have a name to put to a shade – especially if I’m telling someone about the palette as I find it much easier to give my opinions on the different shades (and this did make it harder to swatch them haha). I swatched the shades in the same order that they appear in the palette so that you could get an idea of what they look like on skin rather than just in the palette.

My personal favourite shades are the top right and the bottom left. The top right is a shimmery brown and the bottom left is a muted matte brown and I think these will look great together or combined with other shades. I also think that the top left shade is perfect for brightening the inner corners of the eyes, especially when creating a smoky eye.

Overall I would 100% recommend buying this palette as the good things (everything) definitely out-way the one fault that I have with it (not having names!) as this is just a personal thing which I quickly got over after trying out all of the shades! If you are looking to buy this palette I suggest grabbing it as quick as possible as this is limited edition and won’t be available forever. I am definitely considering buying the ‘plum eyes’ palette as I love this one so much so if you have tried that palette I would love to hear what you think of it in the comments or via my social media (links below).

Family Lunch Outfit

A few weeks ago me and my parents decided to go out for Sunday lunch before we all went back to school/work. We had a lovely day out in beautiful surroundings with great food but silly me forgot to take my camera so I didn’t manage to get any shots. However I do have my outfit for you today.

I decided to go quite dressy as the place that we were going to was quite posh, but I didn’t want to go all out by wearing a dress, so I chose a skirt.

I chose to wear this patterned skirt from River Island with a pair of black tights from Primark. I love how autumnal the skirt looks (I know its winter but oh well) and think the patterns on it make look more dressy than casual. I have also talked about this skirt in previous posts (No Place I’d Rather Be) but I think that just gives an idea of how much I love it.

As the skirt makes quite a statement, I wanted to pair it with something simple but something that didn’t get lost in the outfit. This cream jumper from New Look was the perfect match. I love how the sleeves are cropped to just above the elbow as it makes it different from your regular jumper. I really like how the different textures of it make it more exciting than just a plain cream jumper and I think that makes it pop in the outfit.

The shoes that I chose to pair with this outfit are these tan wedges from New Look. These were the first pair of heels that I ever owned (I got them about 4 years ago!) and I still love them just as much as I did when I first bought them. They don’t have the biggest of heels but I think this gives a bit of class to the outfit without going all out with massive stilettos and this just makes them really comfortable and easy to wear. As I bought these so long ago, they don’t still stock the exact same ones, but you can find lots of dupes in high street stores for very reasonable prices.

To help tie in the shoes with the rest of my outfit, I used a new bag which I bought a few weeks ago from Accessorize. It is a great size for day or night and has two inside pockets which is great for keeping things separate in your bag. I love the colour of this bag and I think it really helps to tie the whole outfit together. The gold detailing on the clasp and the bottom of the handles also gives a touch of class to the outfit and makes the bag look a lot more dressy, especially when paired with an outfit like this.

I hope you enjoyed this and leave me comments below or on my social media (links below) with any requests of future posts that you would like to see me do.

New Beauty Bits

Happy New Year! I hope you had a fantastic 2014, had a brilliant New Year and have an amazing 2015.

A new year calls for one thing and one thing only. New beauty products. Personally, I got given a lot of new products for Christmas and have bought a couple recently myself, so I thought I would share some of them with you.

Urban Decay Naked 3

I have wanted this palette for so long as I have heard so many people rave about it so I was very happy when my parents got me it for Christmas. First of all can we just appreciate the beautiful packaging…stunning. There is a wide variety of shades, some which are matte, which are perfect for creating any sort of look. All 12 shades are highly pigmented and I find they all stay on for a long period of time without sliding off or creasing, even without an eye primer.

Benefit set-Sexy and Scrumptious

I was very vague when asking for any Benefit products for Christmas as I simply couldn’t just choose one to ask for so my parents gave me one of the beauty sets as one of my presents. The one I have is the Sexy and Scrumptious set which includes High Beam, Posie tint, Coralista blusher and brush, 5 eye shadow shades, They’re Real mascara and an Ultra Plush lip gloss. High Beam is a gorgeous shimmery highlighter, Coralista is a really natural blush which complements all skin tones and the They’re Real mascara is always a favourite of mine. At the moment these are the only products that I have tried from this set but I’m sure the others are just as high quality as the rest of the set and I may do a review of the whole set when I have tried all of them.

Mac-Chili
Revlon Matte Balm-Standout

I have always wanted to try out a darker red lip so I saw Christmas as the perfect opportunity to ask for a couple and try them out. The Revlon ColourBurst Balm is a god given gift. The shade is beautiful- a bright red colour- and as it is a matte balm it stays on all day or night. I wore this on New Years Eve and I didn’t have to reapply it once throughout the whole evening even through eating and drinking which I personally think is amazing for a drugstore lipstick. If you don’t own one of these (first of all why!?), second of all go out and get yourself one (I would highly recommend it!).

I can’t say too much about the Mac lipstick as I haven’t had a chance to try it out as of yet but I can comment on the shade. A beautiful orange toned red colour – perfect for the winter/spring time. This is also a matte formula so I am expecting it to stay on as well, if not better, than the Revlon balm, so watch this space for a possible review sometime in the near future.

Mac Keepsake Neutral Eye Palette

Again, can we just take a moment to appreciate the beautiful packaging of this product… okay moment over. This is one of the limited edition Mac Keep-sake palettes and it contains 8 neutral eye shadows with a double ended applicator. There is a mixture of matte and shimmery shades, all of which are highly pigmented and are great for creating a neutral but slightly smokey eye look. Another moment to appreciate the packaging please… okay I think I’m just about over the beauty of it.

Body Shop Honey Bronzer

This bronzer is something that I have wanted to try out for a while now, so I thought while I have a bit of money it was the perfect time to purchase it. Again the packaging is beautiful but I’m not going to go through all of that again (I get a bit carried away haha!). I find this great for contouring my cheek bones and just underneath my jaw bone to create a really natural glow.

Tanya Burr Lip-gloss-First Date

Another thing that I have wanted to try for ages has been one of the Tanya Burr lip glosses. I picked up the shade First Date which is a pale pink shade. I only bought this yesterday so I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet but everyone who I have spoken to about these has nothing but good things to say about them so I’m sure that it will be great quality.

I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to comment below or send me a message on instagram or twitter (links below) if you want to see any full reviews of the products mention or with any future post suggestions.
