My Travel Makeup Bag

As its getting to prime summer holiday time where the majority of people go on holiday either abroad or around the country, I thought I would show you what I will be taking in my travel makeup bag this year.

Concealer is an absolute must for me on holiday as its a product that can change your whole face in 30 seconds. I tend to just stick with the shade that I always use as in the first few days its a perfect match for my skin and then when I get a bit of tan it works great as an under eye concealer to brighten and highlight as I find the sun seems to clear a lot of my blemishes. The concealer i'll be using which is great for both purposes is the Collection Lasting Perfection in the shade Fair. This is great for covering blemishes and hiding dark circles and at the incredibly cheap price, its not as big an issue if it leaks on the flight!

The next product I’ll be taking will be my Revlon Nearly Naked powder in the shade Medium. This powder is a little bit darker than my natural skin tone which works great for me as it gives me a bit of colour and coverage which usually a foundation would and it is also a lot lighter than a foundation as personally i hate wearing anything heavy on my face during summer. This will also be great for setting my concealer in place and giving me a little bit of coverage when I have tan and it isn't being used for the ‘colour’ purpose.

This Sleek contouring and blush palette will also definitely be coming with me on holiday as its really compact and so great for travelling. This palette includes a bronzer, a blusher, and a highlight and I have mine in the shade Fair. The bronzer works great for contouring the check bones with a more tapered contour brush or for bronzing up the whole face using a larger brush. The blusher also looks really nice in summer as it has flecks of gold running through it which gives a really natural glow to the skin along with the highlighter which also comes in the palette.

For eyes I like to keep it really simple while on holiday as I find that I can just never be bothered to sit and do a full eye makeup look so the Maybelline cream eyeshadows are perfect. I did a full review on these in my last post but the ones I will be taking are On And On Bronze and Pink Gold as these are both so easy to apply and will look gorgeous with a tan.

I’ll also be taking the Collection Eyes Uncovered palette with me just to apply a few shades through the crease of my eye to deepen up any looks slightly. I’ll also be using the lightest shade to highlight my brow bone and my inner corners. I just bought this palette recently specifically for travelling as I thought it would be a good dupe for my Naked Basics as I didn't want to risk taking this away because sometimes shadows may melt in the heat and I’m hoping this works well!

For mascara I’ll be taking my Benefit They’re Real mascara as this is my favourite to give both length and volume. I have a mini size of this that I got in a Benefit set and this is going to be so handy to take away as it is the perfect size so I really suggest getting a mini of whichever mascara you’ll be taking away with you. Personally i don’t wear mascara during the day on holiday so I won’t be needing a waterproof version but that is also something to consider when deciding which mascara to take.

The final selection of products I’ll be taking will be lip products and I like to take a few to choose from. I always like to take a lip balm for both during the day and at night purely to keep my lips hydrated and its a really easy option if I don’t feel like applying a full on lip colour during the evenings and I find the Maybelline Baby Lips in Hydrate the best for this. For a lipgloss I’ll be taking the Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in the shade Be Famous as it is a really nice pinky coral shade and is so easy to apply and match with any outfit. I think that this shade is discontinued now but there are so many lip glosses out there which are all in similar shades. The final lip product I’ll be taking is the Boujour Rouge Edition lipstick in the shade 09. This is one of my favourite lipsticks to take away as I feel like its definitely my signature lip colour for on holiday. Its a really bright orangey coral shade which is perfect to brighten up any look and it looks incredible with a sun tan.

Tattooing My Eyes...

*Yes, I know I haven't posted for 4 months because exams took over my life but now I'm back and I'm here to stay: well, I’ll try to be anyway!*

Before you ask, no I'm not actually tattooing my eyes; I'm on about the Maybelline Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadows. Obviously these eyeshadows have been available for quite some time now but I’ve always wanted to do a review on them and now is the time that I'm finally getting around to doing one.

Top: On and On Bronze
Middle: Vintage Plum
Bottom: Pink Gold

I own three of the Colour Tattoos: Pink Gold, Vintage Plum, and On and On Bronze. Pink Gold and On and On Bronze are both shimmery and Vintage Plum is classed as a leather effect eyeshadow and is more of a matte finish. All three of the shadows can be used as a base for a more complex eye look or can just be applied on there own for a simple everyday look as they are really easy to blend so you never have to worry about any harsh lines. The pigmentation of all three is also incredible for a £4 drugstore eyeshadow and the staying power of them is also something to be raved about.

Pink Gold is my favourite shadow for spring and summer as it is a gorgeous shimmery pink shade with flecks of gold running through it. I constantly find myself wearing this on its own and blended out at the crease as it is such an easy shadow to wear but can also make a great base for a pinky smokey eye.

Vintage Plum is a purpley taupe matte shade with slight brown undertones which give it much more of a rustic feel. I do find this shadow slightly harder to apply compared to the other two, however once you have built up the colour it again works great as a base or as one colour across the lid.

On and On Bronze is the one shade in this collection that so many bloggers and youtubers rave about and it is in-fact a very recent purchase of mine. It is a typical bronze gold shade which would complement so many different skin tones and makeup looks. I also feel like this shade would work great throughout every season as it would look amazing in winter with a deep lip and it would also look really nice in summer with a tan and nude lip.

If you have any suggestions of shades from this range that you think I should try then definitely let me know.
