Walk Along The Quayside

I know, I know, I haven’t posted in ages. The truth is I don’t really have an amazing excuse as I to why I haven’t posted, life has just kind of taken over and I’ve had nothing I felt passionate enough about to do a post on (sorryyyy!).

Anyway, today’s post is more of a lifestyle one – a day along Newcastle Quayside. Last Sunday me and my dad decided to go for a walk along the Quayside. It’s a place that Newcastle is famous for, with its amazing bridges crossing the river separating Newcastle from Gateshead. There is always a market on the Newcastle side of the river on a Sunday, and visiting this is something that we love to do as a family. Right, enough of me waffling on now, lets get onto the photos.

Simple Valentines Day Outfit

Valentines Day. Another excuse to wear nice clothes and do your makeup for a special occasion (but then again, who needs an excuse!?) Whether you’re like me and are just staying in and treating it like any other day (I’m actually planning on filming my first ever YouTube video!), spending a girly day with friends, or going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, I thought I would show you an outfit idea that I had for going out on that special day.

I thought about what style of outfit I would go for and I eventually decided on girly and cute but with a slight feel of a more ‘dressy’ look.

I think jumpsuits are a great idea for this type of occasion, especially if you want to be super comfortable and still look just as good as you would if you were wearing a short body-con dress for example. The one that I am wearing is from Next and it is in this beautiful navy blue colour. I love the intricate detailing on it coming from the grey dots and the incredible white and pale pink flower details. I feel like this gives the jumpsuit a bit more depth to it and also gives it more of a ‘dressy’ feel instead of an everyday casual look. The way that it pinches in at the waist also gives an extra dimension to it in a similar way that the detailing does.

I also chose to add this white cardigan on top of the jumpsuit to give something extra to the outfit. I think that this is perfect for this look as the lace detailing on the back lies where the cross-over is on the back of the jumpsuit so it is almost like it fills a blank space. The cardigan was from New Look however I got this a few years ago but there may still be similar ones available.

For shoes I chose to wear a pair of tan, suede wedges from New Look which you will have seen in some of previous posts. I love these wedges as they make the outfit instantly look more ‘dressy’ without wearing a huge heel. They are super comfortable and easy to walk in so you don’t need to worry about falling over in front of your date! As the wedges are a neutral colour, they go with this jumpsuit well as they don’t need to tie into any other colour which I personally love. I also love how the suede gives the shoes and extra bit of depth and something a bit more interesting to them rather than juts an ordinary shoe.

For my makeup and hair I decided to go really simple and girly. I left my hair down and flicked one side over into a side parting with a slight bit of volume like I would usually do on an everyday basis. I didn’t straighten or curl it as I felt like this would be a distraction away from the rest of the outfit and I wanted the jumpsuit to be the main focus. For makeup I kept it really neutral using a few shades from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette on my eyes and the Revlon Lip-Butter in the shade Berry Smoothie which is a really pretty pinky-nude.

I hope you all have an amazing Valentines Day however you are spending it and I hope that this post helped you if you were struggling for outfit ideas. If you recreate this look or take any inspiration from it be sure to spend me photos of it via my social media.

The Perfect Red

Ahhh a red lip. Pretty much every makeup brand does some form of one, whether it be a super matte lipstick or a super shiny lip gloss, they all have one. But finding the perfect one… that’s a whole other story.

If you have read some of my previous posts you will know that I got one of the Revlon ColourBurst Balms for Christmas and let’s just say… this is my perfect red.

I have the shade 250 – Standout which is a slightly pinky-toned berry red. I would say that this is quite a subtle red (if that’s even possible haha!) as it isn’t a bright, in your face red and it isn’t a strong purple-toned red, it’s more of a cross between both. The colour pay off is amazing and as the shade is very buildable, it is easy to go from day to night with one lip product.

As this is a matte lipstick, I did expect it to stay on for quite a while, but in no way was I prepared for the power of the balm. It doesn’t budge. Now when I say it doesn’t budge, I mean through eating, drinking, talking, laughing, crying, and every other scenario you could think of. I wore this lipstick on New Years Eve and it did not move a muscle throughout the whole evening which is great for a drugstore product (I actually think its better than my Mac matte lipsticks which cost twice the price!).

Another thing to love about this lipstick is the consistency. It has an incredibly creamy formula which doesn’t leave an awful shine on your lips and it is not drying in the slightest. It dries a solid colour on your lips which is great to avoid smudging throughout the day/night but one thing I do find is that it dries very quickly leaving little time to work with it so I do suggest using a lip liner before applying it if you’re looking for ultimate precision. The crayon-like applicator makes it super easy to glide onto your lips if you’re in a rush (which I am most of the time) and also makes it easy to cover your whole lips without leaving any annoying little gaps which just suddenly appear.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this lipstick to anyone looking for a new red to try out as – like I said – this is my perfect red. Let me know your perfect reds in the comments below or on my social media.
